How to Achieve Simple Happiness

Kiss people you love. Blow kisses at people you don’t.

Laugh often, but not at the expense of other people. Unless they fall over.

Dance to your favourite song in your car going to work.

Rest your forehead against the chest of the person you trust the most in the world.

Rub noses with your pet (unless your pet is a scorpion).

Laugh at your own jokes.

Have a glass of wine or a bowl of ice cream.

Light a scented candle and have a bubble bath. Sing terribly.

Eat some chocolate, don’t feel bad about it.

Do some star jumps to motivational music.

Remember compliments you have received and forget the insults.

Give someone a meaningful compliment and watch the smile spread across their face.

Observe the stars in the sky at night. Our universe is infinitely huge and we are only a minuscule part of it. Your problems aren’t as big as they seem.

Appreciate your health. I’m not 100% in good health and I regret not appreciating it more when I was healthy. We’re alive and that’s pretty wonderful.

Go to a dog shelter and at least offer to walk a dog. You will offer companionship to a vulnerable animal and get exercise. Winning.

Go to your favourite place. Alone. Empty your mind and just relax. Tell yourself that you love your own company.

Watch a comedy film in a group.

Listen to some relaxing music. Close your eyes for five minutes and breathe in and out deeply.

Clean up your living/work space. Feeling organised is one way to feel relaxed and happy.

Have a party for no reason. Buy balloons and cake and just celebrate how awesome you are.

Buy an animal onesie.

Play hide and seek.

Watch cat videos on the Internet.

Hold a baby. Preferably that you are related to.

Watch TV shows from your youth.

Learn to make fun of yourself. You can be as much of an idiot as everyone else.

Don’t set yourself unrealistic standards. Realise your potential; no more, no less.

I love your list, Janey! I went to an animal shelter yesterday and came home with 2 rescue cockatiels. Just what I needed, more animals in my house. Anyway, I’m printing out your list and taping it to my refrigerator. ๐Ÿ™‚

Aw good for you! I have a lot of animals too but I wouldn’t change a thing. I’m glad to hear you’re putting this on your fridge, that’s very flattering! ๐Ÿ˜€
