Very Inspiring Blogger Award

It’s been a while since I’ve done an awards post so I said “hey Jane, why not have some pie and do an awards post?” Great idea, Jane.

Aisha over at The Hashtag Generation has nominated me for a Very Inspiring Blogger award and now I’m all fuzzy and warm. She is a great blogger, and I urge you to read this post just to get to know her a little better. Her blog is both intelligent and
funny and you have to visit because I said so and I’m using my teacher voice. Thanks Aisha!

Here are the rules for accepting the award:

1.Thank and link the amazing person who nominated you.
2.List the rules and display the award.
3.Share seven facts about yourself.
4.Nominate 15 other amazing blogs and comment on their posts to let them know they have been nominated.
5.Optional: Proudly display the award logo on your blog and follow the blogger who nominated you.

Here are seven facts about moi:
(I’ve done this a lot so I’ll try to do something new here)

1. My parents split up a few years ago. I have one brother, he lectures law, and a sister. She’s got two adorable kids and one on the way.
I’m the youngest, which means I’m automatically the coolest.

2. I have a Master’s Degree in International Relation yet I choose to blog about owls.

3. I am distantly related to a former Taoiseach (prime minister) of Ireland. He came to my house when I was seventeen and I posed for moody, indifferent teenage pictures with him. You know, because it’s not a big deal to meet someone who negotiated deals with Margaret Thatcher.

4. About a year ago, I was in a car accident where my car was basically crushed to a cube and I managed to escape virtually unscathed. Self-five.

5. I can speak basic Irish ach tá mé uafásach toisc nach raibh mé ag éisteacht nuair a bhí mé ar scoil.

6. I love to sing. I didn’t say I can sing but I llllooooovvvve to ssssiiiiiing <—-I just sang that.

7. I am a total space and cosmology nerd. If you are Chris Hadfield and you are reading this, call me.

Now comes the incredibly hard part. I'm supposed to pick fifteen bloggers who have inspired me but the truth is, I could pick hundreds. I also get a little stressed because I always forget someone. I’m just going to compile a list of bloggers who have inspired me in my almost year long journey in some way or another. You are under no obligation to carry this on, just know that I appreciate you and everything you do.

If I do forget someone, just know that I left the hand break up on my car today soooo….

So, now that my pie is long gone and for some reason, I have tennis elbow, I’m going to stop.

I just want to say a big thank you to all of the bloggers I have nominated and to Aisha for the nomination. My blog is nearly a year old, and I’m very happy that on a hot July day in 2013 I decided to start a blog as an outlet for my weirdness.

Okay Janey, first things first. What kind of pie was it that you were gobbling down without offering even a description of let alone not a crumb to us inquiring (and hungry) minds? We want to KNOW! 🙂
Secondly I love your new facts. I wish I could hear those lovely Irish words spoken. Perhaps you could siiiing an authentic Irish song for us someday!
Lastly I am honored that you thougt of me to share the award with. I am terribly behind in passing on a couple of others but pass them on I will, as well as this one. We are getting settled here and I am having more time to do the things I truly love-blogging tops that list. I consider all of you out there very dear friends after all this time.
Oh and, hey, don’t forget to take off the parking brake when you drive. You’ll get there lots faster. 😉

It was rhubarb because I love rhubarb 🙂 want some??
Maybe some day I will do a recording for you all, but my accent is pretty terrible haha!
I hope everything is going well for you after the move. Take your time with the award, they are crazy time consuming! This took me three hours believe it or not!

  2. weight2lose2013 says:

Thank you, Janey! As if being included in the greatest song ever written wasn’t enough, I now get this! ❤ For all things awesome, yet weird, God bless July 2013. 🙂

  3. deepbluesandseafoamgreens says:

Thank you so so so SOOOO much! I LOVE YOU JANEY! Say hi to Jack; and here’s a kitkat! (I’ve had a mini obsession with those recently.) ❤
    *hugs*
And well done on getting it! 🙂

  4. tvkapherr (Cats at the Bar) says:

I would like to thank you and the Academy for this prestigious award. “They like me, they really like me!” Janey, your wonderful. You are one of the few blogs I actually get by email, just so I don’t miss a single one of your wacky adventures. I shall do my very best to honor you and the Great Horned Owl in the sky, with my acceptance post. 😉 and remember, “Give a HOOT and don’t pollute.” says Woodsy Owl.

    • janeybgood says:

I may have been wearing my owl earrings? The funniest thing is I just said to my boyfriend “I’m not that obsessed with owls am I?” and then both our eyes just looked over at my owl ornament on the mantle piece haha. Thanks again!

  5. amandalyle1986 says:

Firstly – congrats!!!! Again, we’ll deserved! Secondly, Thank you for nominating me 🙂 … And thirdly, YAY…I’m 2nd on your list, I feel special. I’m sure this has no relevance at all, but let me just have this moment. Hehe.

Oh, and I brought some cake to celebrate!

  6. pouringmyartout says:

I am very honored to be selected for such a high honor… unfortunately, I can’t pass it on… for a few reasons:
    1. These things are sort of like chain letters… WordPress uses them to keep us all busy so we, the smartest people on the planet…(bloggers)… don’t end up in charge.
    2. I can’t think up anything new to say about myself because my whole blog is about me.
    3. I have no place to put all these awards… I have a whole basement full of them now.
    4. I am a computer moron… and several other kinds of moron as well… and I can’t ever do all the links and instructions.
    5. I am always in the middle of something… like the snorkeling posts I am doing now… and I hate to interrupt the flow… the crack squirrels hate it even more…
    6. I am just not good at following instructions.
I really do thank you for this. I really am honored.

Tosnaíonn mé ag caint as Ghaeilge nuair atá mé ar meisce ar an mbus oíche tar éis cúpla (!) boidéal..ach sin é. Ní bheadh mo mhúinteoir ar bheith sásta.. Ach tá bród orm mar tá mé ábalta ag scríobh seo gan a bheith úsáid Google translate!

It’s surprising how much Irish we retain years after finishing the Leaving Cert

    • janeybgood says:

Wow, that’s an mhaith! I can understand that, but I couldn’t write it 🙂

I actually haven’t retained too much, I can read it and understand it well but my speaking is go dona!

  8. Aussa Lorens says:

I’m glad for that hot day in July! I hope you have something spectacular planned for your one year blogiversary. And I completely one gillion percent agree with you about being coolest because you’re the youngest. I’m in the same boat, so obviously it’s true.

Oh! And thanks for nominating me 🙂 Even if I’m missing a consonant… It’s okay though because you mentioned it on my About page and also because I misspelled “consonant” the first time I wrote it. And the second time. sheeeet.

  9. anupturnedsoul says:

    Congratulations!!! Love you!!!

And thank you very much 😀

Now what do I say…..? I ate all the beer cake on my way over here, it was very tiring hopping all the way and I got peckish. So.

Ha… completely out of sort of nowhere… this reminds me of something very funny I saw in a film last night – It’s a Disaster (2012) – where a bunch of couples meet for Sunday Brunch at the home of one of the couples and it happens to coincide with the end of the world (sort of) and one couple who always arrive really late to the couple brunches and piss everyone else off because of it… arrive late but this time they die because of it. The dialogue in this scene is delicious. The tardy female of the duo brought a cake, that’s what reminded me of it. Very funny and twisted comedy.

    Hmmm.

This is also a generic message 😉

    • janeybgood says:

It’s only a small token to you to show how much I appreciate your blog 🙂 love you too!

Haha, that sounds exactly like my kind of comedy 🙂 I must check it out. Thanks for your comment and for brightening my day.

Hello, sweetiepie! Thank you kindly for the award nomination – I am in the midst of a lotta crazy and am belaying my response, if that is ok! 🙂 So happy to know you appreciate my endless ramblings, by BBFF. I appreciate your kind “shout out!” Mother Hen… (pie – the tennis elbow is so worth it!) *mwaaaaahhhh!!!*
    – snatches up “lucky” microphone… “HAND IIIIIIIIII…..EEEIIIIIII WILL ALLLLWAYS LOVE YOOOOOO—–OOOOOOOOU-IIIIIIIII WILL ALLLWAYS… L-O–O–O-O-O-O-O-VE…..Y-HOOO-HOOOOOO…….MMMMMMMM…I will always…lo-hove….. you ——-> (building to crescendo…) hooooooooooo (omigosh, breaking glass…..people drop their drinks and watch with gaping mouths – which is a little gross – but inner Whitney sings with her eyes closed) ooooooooo (and the crowd goes WILD!) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO” Dang girl, we good!

    • janeybgood says:

No problem on the Saskatoon…ok, hahaha, I was writing “delay” and then it autocorrected to that and it is way too funny to change. What the heck is a Saskatoon? (Quick google: it’s a city in Canada haha!)

Aaaanyway, I really feel like we’re two peas in a pod. I loved your version of that song. You can really sing MH, it’s a gift 😀
Someday I will post a karaoke video for all of you, someday!
